Closer to Fine

In this site, I'll delve into my running, my family, living in the Mid-West, Rutgers Football and anything else that seems to strike my interest.

I turned my ankle on Sunday running in Holliday Park. Its an Indy Park that's .4 of mile from our house. It's an amazing escape, literally you just hop off the main road here in the city and you are transported into a thick woodland running along the White River. There are 8 great little trails in there. Very Hilly compared to anything I ever saw in NJ. I used it alot to train for my 6 hour run that I did back in the summer. It's a great place for me to "get away" for a little bit, and actully feel like I am in the wild... something I was never did or tried to do in the Philadelphia Suburbs.

I was about 2 hours in and I just totally rolled over on it... as what I usually do when this happens - I grabbed hold of a tree to survey the damage, after a few minutes I realized I would be able to walk home. Not too bad - give it a day and it will be fine. Rose and the kids were out at church already... (kinda sad, because I did want to go, even though Rose doesn't believe me!) so i started to make some Waffles. I had some extra cooked pumpkin laying around so I decided to throw a few cups in. Note to Self: Reduce liquids acordingly, next time. anyway they were good enough for me.

I am currently training for a 50 K race in northern Indiana called the HUFF 50K. 31 miles of cold trail running... that's what I asked for as my Christmas present. I have come to that point in my life where I have the material things I want (which really isn't that much)... the only thing I really need is a new pair of running shoes once in a while. Other than that, I am really just looking for great life experiences. Being with Rose and the kids, enjoying what I do for a living and trying to push my body as far as it will go.

Now that I have this written, I guess today is the first day of the rest of my life, going after that pursuit!
